FUT Technique
Extensive baldness? FUT might be the solution.
The FUT method (Follicular Unit Transplantation) involves removing a strip of scalp containing hair follicles from the donor area — typically the back of the scalp, where the hair is naturally denser and less prone to balding.
From this strip, small tissue groups containing hair follicles are carefully separated and prepared for transplantation. As with the FUE technique, small individual incisions are made in the recipient area, and the prepared follicles are placed one by one.
It is the oldest hair transplant method and offers some advantages — namely, the ability to obtain a large number of follicular units in a single procedure, making it ideal for cases of extensive baldness.
However, this technique also has its disadvantages. With this type of surgery, a horizontal scar at the back of the head is inevitable. During healing, this incision can be more prominent and requires extra care.
If necessary, there are now ways to make the FUT scar more discreet and natural-looking — either by implanting follicles into the scar itself or using micropigmentation.
